Safe, Even If It Snows

This past weekend was an awesome time for me. I get all excited about snow and I love to watch it fall and change everything outside. This past Friday I was watching the clock and waiting for the time when all the weather forecasters said snow was coming. At exactly 8 pm at our house the snow began peppering huge white flakes. I was like a kid in a candy store.

When we woke up on Saturday the boys were excited to get up and try out their new sleds. They spent hours outside walking up and down the hills. They had a great time and I enjoyed watching them have fun. ( I even tried it as you can see in the picture.) Snow was everywhere and it definitely was awesome for the boys to enjoy our 5 inches of white powder.

However, what was beautiful and awesome to look at became dangerous on Saturday night. I watched as temperatures dropped outside and I knew that our family dog, Fudge, would need a place to bunk down at night. I went and got his kennel and placed it on the garage. Fudge was going to have a night away from his dog house. I put him on our warm garage in his kennel with warm carpet lining and a soft cuddly blanket. He was safe from the cold. I also brought him up last night and I will again tonight to keep him safe and warm.

As I thought about the protection I showed Fudge, I began to think about my Heavenly Father’s protection. Psalm 7 speaks about His safety. “God is my shield, saving those whose hearts are true and right.” When I am hungry, He feeds me. When I am cold at heart, He warms it. When I feel alone, He is a Friend. When I am feeling the darts of the enemy, He becomes my shield.

My Savior will become who and what I need in my life. When I was thinking about Fudge, I realized that I became what he needed. I took time and cared for him. He is a part of our family. I know I am speaking about our family dog, but remember with a messed up mind it is the simple things that reminds me of my Savior.

Because of my Lord’s protection and love David says, “I will thank the Lord because he is just; I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.” When I went out this morning to check on Fudge, he was really excited and I am sure if he could, he would have been singing praises. How much more should I sing the praises of my Savior. He takes care of me and protects me from my enemies. He is my Shield and He is my Protector. How much more should I praise Him? Am I excited that He loves me today? Today, join in with me and sing this song to our Savior:

The sun comes up It's a new day dawning It's time to sing Your song again Whatever may pass And whatever lies before me Let me be singing When the evening comes

Bless the Lord oh my soul Oh my soul Worship His Holy name Sing like never before Oh my soul I'll worship Your Holy name

You're rich in love And You're slow to anger Your name is great And Your heart is kind For all Your goodness I will keep on singing Ten thousand reasons For my heart to find

Bless the Lord oh my soul Oh my soul Worship His Holy name Sing like never before Oh my soul I'll worship Your Holy name Bless You Lord

Coughing and Sneezing...

Remember when it was okay to sneeze or cough? I was in a store the other day and I sneezed in my arm and I got looks. Not just any looks, but the kind of looks that said I was "contagious" or "dying".
